Dill seeds – and to a lesser extent the leaves of this plant – are used widely in European cuisines; to flavour eggs, meats, salads, confectioneries and pickles.

Its oil is used in some detergents and soaps. As a traditional medicine, dill is used to treat indigestion and infant colic.

Medicinal Properties

Dill contains many valuable antioxidants, including eugenol which may inhibit platelet aggregation.

It also contains limonene which exhibits preventive properties against some types of cancer.
